RC Development Solutions Co-Hosts 2026 World Cup Business Readiness Happy Hour in Lenexa; Local Leaders and Business Owners Align on Economic Opportunity and Community Preparedness

LENEXA, KS — December 10, 2025 — RC Development Solutions, LLC successfully co-hosted a high-impact 2026 World Cup Business Readiness Happy Hour on December 8, 2025, at Saints Pub + Patio in Lenexa City Center, bringing together Kansas City–area business owners, civic leaders, and key elected officials for a candid conversation about the region’s preparation for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

A Collaborative Dialog on KC’s Readiness

RC Development Solutions CEO Ron Cox facilitated an interactive Q&A session alongside Dave Laymen (Partner, CRBG Commercial Roof Brokers), Jon Hollister (Owner, PSS), and Heather Gerdes (Co-Founder, Promode.AI). The discussion centered on three core questions:

1. Is Kansas City prepared for the hundreds of thousands of international fans expected in 2026?

2. What measures are being taken to ensure public safety, crowd management, and traffic flow?

3. How will local businesses, especially small and mid-sized operators, connect with visitors seeking essential services such as lodging, fuel, dining, transportation, and entertainment?

Local business owners emphasized the need for a “preferred vendor list” or centralized directory to help World Cup attendees quickly locate trustworthy services and to ensure regional businesses benefit directly from tournament-driven foot traffic.

Key Elected Officials Provide Insight and Transparency

Several state leaders participated in the discussion, offering perspectives on infrastructure, public safety, tourism planning, and communication strategy:

• From the Attorney General Kris Kobach Office: George McCary and members of the AG’s Office, provided updates on statewide “readiness and awareness” initiatives related to public safety and law enforcement coordination.

• Secretary of State Scott Schwab – Discussed regulatory support and ongoing efforts to streamline business filings, corporate registrations, and administrative processes for companies preparing for increased economic activity.

• Representative Sean Tarwater – Chair of the Commerce, Labor, and Economic Development Committee, highlighted legislative efforts to support business growth tied to the World Cup.

• Representative Adam Turk – Offered insights from his service on key state budget, appropriations, and economic development committees, including 2025 special study groups focused on fiscal planning and readiness.

“The energy was incredibly positive,” said Ron Cox, CEO of RC Development Solutions. “Business owners are eager to rise to the moment, but they want transparency and clear pathways to get involved. It’s our responsibility as community leaders to make sure Kansas City thrives before, during, and after the World Cup.”

The World Cup’s Economic Impact: It is often described as “A Once-in-a-Generation Opportunity for Kansas City”.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup is projected to be the largest economic event ever hosted in North America, with unprecedented tourism and spending potential.

National & Global Benchmarks

• The 2018 World Cup in Russia generated an estimated $14 billion in total economic activity.

• The 2014 World Cup in Brazil drew over 1 million international tourists and injected $11.5 billion into the national economy.

• For the U.S., FIFA projects 5 million+ total visitors across all host cities in 2026 — more than any single-nation tournament in history.

Expected Impact for Host Cities Like Kansas City

Independent analyses of previous World Cups and major U.S. sporting events provide a strong forecast:

• Host cities are expected to see between $300 million and $620 million in direct and indirect economic impact.

• Kansas City is projected to receive up to 800,000 unique visitors during the tournament window.

• Hospitality, transportation, retail, and entertainment industries typically experience double-digit revenue growth.

• Temporary job creation often exceeds 3,000–6,000 positions in metropolitan host regions.

• Local businesses that position themselves early benefit the most from increased foot traffic.

“With the right coordination, Kansas City has the opportunity to experience an economic surge unlike anything in its history,” Cox said. “This is not just a sports event — it’s a global business engine.”

Next Steps

RC Development Solutions will continue partnering with state and regional leaders to help businesses prepare for what is expected to be a historic year for the Kansas City economy. Additional stakeholder meetings and business-readiness workshops will be announced in early 2026.
